I love the geometric symmetries that underlie what I’ve seen of Margarete’s paintings. They unequivocally draw me in and evoke that sense of wonder that is so essential to really enjoy a work of art. That she’s gone full-circle, incorporating elements, symbolic or beyond, from the styles of her grandmother and mother, bestows upon her paintings such as “Sacred Lines” (above) something even more valuable, in that they act upon me as if they are alive rather than static.
