Ralph’s remarks came in as a comment, but I thought I’d highlight them here:
I don’t know if I’ve ever been so happy to put something behind me…although I’ve still got the last Thomas Covenant book ahead…I also just completed the Dune saga (Where almost everyone manages to live happily ever after.) I felt committed to the chore of finishing all these epics because I’d invested too much psychic energy to not want to see how they ended. In the world of fantasy I’m happy to get back to reading George Martin, where the characters actually feel like people and the situation is both dire and unpredictable. Beyond this my long running addiction to the fantasy/sci-fi genre may be concluding. I’m currently reading Pynchon’s “Against The Day” (with great relish), Cervantes “Don Quixote” (along with online Yale lectures on You Tube), and the Walt Longmire series of whodunit Wyoming novels by Craig Johnson. I’m enjoying them all immensely.
Good luck on your journey and keep the Aes Sedai at your back.
