  1. Once, in the Grand Canyon as I hiked out in the early morning chill, a Monarch warming itself on a rock by flapping its wings very quickly against the boulder it was on woke me from my reverie of thoughts. Magical and necessary creatures they are. Thanks for “Monarch Haiku”!
