A Piece That Isn’t Working

The challenge was two pieces of burlap to make a book. I tried various combinations, below, but can’t quite get it to work. Advice?

I’m trying to embed objects to make a kind of concrete poem without words. I like the objects, but the book itself isn’t working. Too flimsy?

  1. Hi Miriam, you can embed objects into knitting or crochet. You just kind of pick it up as you go along. Of course the object has to have some sort of ‘catch’ – loop, pin, openwork, something you can grab with your needle. Miss you. I in the east for an extended stay.

    • Hi Lorraine–I have been–it is fantastic. I’ve been knitting my dead father’s ties along with wire and twine and buttons, beads etc. I love the effect.
Hope all is well with you.

  2. Miriam, you could use some kind of painted-on glue to adhere the embellished burlap to the cover boards. The folks at Artisan could guide you to the right adherent.
