Tanka by Barbara Robidoux

in my dream
a thousand
orchids flowering
this winter of deep snows
and separations

lightning strikes
over high desert mountains
a tall pine falls–
i am struck by
your dangerous beauty

after many years
we are reunited
by a lump on your right breast
I give you my blue wool hat
to cover your bald head

All previously published in Migrant Moon. Barbara says: I love this ancient form for its connection to nature as well as for its connection to the human heart.
