Poetry Month #8: With Gavel and Pen by Karla Linn Merrifield

With Gavel and Pen

Appointed chair of the Other Ways and Things Committee, she took it
seriously,
neglecting Everything serious (e.g. taxes, death), electing to pursue deep writing
religiously.
She followed the tao of the Spaghetti Monster God; the thing is Godot-absurd,
absolutely;
she followed the tao of the Poor Couple of Condoland; the thing is Calvin & Hobbesish, anachronistic;
and she followed the tao of Jing Du’s buffet menu; the thing is freedom,
delicious.

Then the Buddha began to laugh.
