Mother’s Day by Judith Rafaela

Mother’s Day

It’s the Hallmark holiday again
Were we good-enough ?
Will we hear from the stepped-away kids?
And sitting in ambush that complicated ur-relationship
White flower or red?
2
The last conversation with my mom
Two weeks after she died
Criticizing me in that dream wake state
“You’re dead, you know” I murmur
Her icey sneer:” Who told you that?”
