4th of July

I enjoyed being in Canada this year on an important Canada Day. We went to a nice party with a great view of an estuary. An uninvited but welcome guest–a large Great Blue Heron spent the whole time in a tree above us.

Here is what my favorite cartoonist has to say about Independence Day. I love Ricardo Cate. His humor–which feels very New Mexican as well as Native–really cracks me up.

I can’t say I’m feeling very patriotic at the moment. It’s been a relief to be temporarily gone from Trumplandia. Our neighbors to the north have been regarding us with more pity than derision, which is a relief.

Stay safe–don’t drive drunk or blow off your fingers. And keep on in your pursuit of happiness.
