Poem In Creative Flight, West Bengal, India

City of the Sacred Faith

snow in the mountains
the capital city
nestled at the foot
of the Sangre de Christo mountains

suddenly smaller
more intimate
as it was when I first
came to town

out of the gray
western sky
a medevac
helicopter appears

carrying God knows who
to God knows where.
