City of the Sacred Faith

snow in the mountains
the capital city
nestled at the foot
of the Sangre de Christo mountains

suddenly smaller
more intimate
as it was when I first
came to town

out of the gray
western sky
a medevac
helicopter appears

carrying God knows who
to God knows where.
